We are seeking a detail-oriented Tooling Designer / Fixture Designer with strong expertise in mechanical design and manufacturing support. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing production tooling, assembly fixtures, and manufacturing equipment to support efficient and high-quality production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop tooling, fixtures, jigs, and custom manufacturing equipment using advanced CAD software
- Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and engineering documentation
- Utilize SolidWorks, CATIA, and Siemens NX (NX CAD) for complex mechanical assemblies
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, production teams, and quality departments
- Perform tolerance analysis, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and DFM (Design for Manufacturability) reviews
- Support prototype development, tool validation, and process improvement initiatives
- Manage BOMs (Bill of Materials) and maintain accurate revision control
- Troubleshoot tooling issues and implement continuous improvement solutions
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control procedures
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Tooling Designer, Fixture Designer, or Mechanical Design Engineer
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, CATIA, and/or NX
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, fabrication, and assembly
- Experience with 3D CAD modeling, technical drawings, and engineering change orders (ECOs)
- Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and mechanical drafting standards
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a manufacturing environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in automotive, aerospace, or industrial manufacturing
- Familiarity with CNC machining, tool validation, and lean manufacturing principles
- Knowledge of PLM systems and PDM software
- Understanding of ISO standards and quality management systems
